Every student at Holderness has an advisor. Your advisor is the person who helps you stay on track with your classes and sports and monitors your well being at Holderness. At the end of each year, your advisor writes you a letter to reflect on your time at Holderness. This is an advisor letter that I wrote to my grandmother as if she were a Holderness student.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hall,
Before becoming her advisor, I never knew Louise very vell. Since the beginning of the year, I have had the opportunity to get to know her very well. Over her three years here, Louise has shown persistent honor roll presence, focus in class and sports, and positive attitude throughout the community. Louise is a role model student who sets good examples for her younger classmates. This year she had a leadership role on pantry. She is required to lead a crew of eight people to clean dishes, cups, and silverware in the kitchen. Louise has excelled in this position and shown her ability to lead by making responsible and quick decisions when working in the kitchen. This has given her a reputation for dependability which is why she was selected to be a dorm leader next year.
While Louise has been on honor roll all year, I think that she had the ability to get an A in precalculus and in physics. However she has been outstanding in AP United States History and in Advanced Painting. Often I find that Louise gets too carried away in making every little detail perfect when she really should keep a broader view of the whole project. Additionally, Louise needs to know when she needs to put a novel down and begin her homework. I found that after putting her back on mandatory night time study hall, she was able to complete all of her assignments on time. Louis is an excellent student but she may need to spend a little more of her time on her studies.
Louise is a very social student who has cultivated strong relationships with her peers and teachers. Sometimes I think she needs to know when to turn off Facebook and focus on homework, but after returning to mandatory study hall, this has not been an issue. Louise is also a talented basketball and field hockey player. I encourage her to seek college scouting in one of these sports which may open her options for more colleges that she would like to attend. Louise is an exceptional student who I am glad to have had the pleasure of advising this year.
